About Us

Hearing and Balance Centers of West Tennessee Inc. is a professionally staffed audiology based facility dedicated to the care and management of hearing loss and related problems. Our mission is to provide the highest quality service and technology to the hearing impaired. We are dedicated to educating the public on hearing health care issues, informing customers of the latest advancements in audiology, dispensing products that will enhance communication and ensuring patient satisfaction.


Meet Our Staff

Katherine H. Tackett, Au.D., FAAA
Board Certified in Audiology

Dr. Tackett holds both a Doctorate Degree (Au.D.) in Audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in Meza, Arizona, and a Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Audiology from the University of Memphis.  As a Board Certified Audiologist for over 20 years, she is experienced in all facets of clinical audiology and has participated in numerous continuing education programs.  She has also served as an advisor/consultant to several hearing aid laboratories in the evaluation of digital hearing aid technology.   Dr. Tackett is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.

 

Elizabeth A. Hopkins, B.S., BC-HIS
Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences

Ms. Hopkins holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Biology from the University of Tennessee-Martin.  With more than 20 years of experience as a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist, she has extensive training and proven experience with digital hearing aid technology.  Ms. Hopkins has participated in clinical evaluation of new technologies for a variety of hearing aid laboratories. 

 

Allison D .Jones, Au.D., FAAACourtney S. Pitner, Au.D., CCCA
Board Certified in Audiology

Dr. Pitner holds a Doctorate Degree in Audiology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. She joined our staff in January 2011. She brings knowledge in advanced audiological testing, hearing evaluation and hearing aid fitting to our practice. Dr. Pitner holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association

 

Lori S. Frederick, M.A., CCCALori S. Frederick, M.A., CCCA
Board Certified in Audiology

Mrs. Frederick earned both her Master’s Degree in Audiology and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Memphis.  She joined our staff in March 2008 and is a Board Certified Audiologist.  She possesses an in-depth understanding of audiological testing, hearing evaluation and hearing aid fitting.  Mrs. Frederick holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.

 

Daniel J. Orchik, Ph.D., FAAA
Board Certified in Audiology

Dr. Orchik earned his Ph.D. in Audiology from Michigan State University and has held teaching appointments at several universities, including the University of Memphis and the University of Tennessee - Memphis College of Medicine.  Dr. Orchik has more than 30 years experience in the field of Audiology.  He has served in an advisory capacity with various hearing aid manufacturers and published over 50 research articles and book chapters in the areas of hearing loss, hearing aids and auditory-assistive technology.  He is a Board Certified Audiologist, a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.  Since his retirement in March 2008, Dr. Orchik has served our practice in a consultant capacity.

 

Penny OdomPenny Odom
Office Manager

Mrs. Odom joined our practice in 2004.  She brings over 20 years of experience to provide administrative support and organizational proficiency as she attends to the day-to-day office needs.  She handles all invoicing, accounts receivable and payables, as well as, insurance claims.  In addition, she is responsible for editing the practice newsletter.  Penny is proficient in Windows, Excel and QuickBooks and has oversight for implementation of all computer programs and upgrades. 

 

Hayley LewisHayley Lewis
Office Manager-Jackson

Ms. Lewis joined our team in Jackson in 2003 and provides administrative support and oversite for the day to day operations of our satellite facility.  She coordinates all activities and scheduling with the Memphis office as she focuses on meeting the needs of our patients in a timely and compassionate manner.  Ms. Lewis keeps our patients apprised of battery sales, seminars and all other events and activities.

 

Betty GenkingerBetty Genkinger
Receptionist

Mrs. Genkinger has served as Receptionist at the Memphis Office since we opened in 2000.  Betty has a full understanding of our patient’s needs and sees that they are scheduled in a timely manner and have everything they need when visiting our office.  She keeps our patients apprised of battery sales and other events that will keep them informed and up-to-date.
